Company Profile

Espion was established in 2001 to provide high-quality Information Risk Advisory & Security Consultancy services to the Irish marketplace. Espion is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland and has 15 full-time employees. We were recognised as the 3rd fasted growing hi-tech company in Ireland (12th in UK & Ireland) in the 2006 Deloitte Fast 50 programme and the 4th Fastest in 2007.

Espion brings together a blend of Information Security specialists with backgrounds in management, engineering, systems architecture and consultancy to create a uniquely intelligent and creative IT security business. Espion’s Enterprise Risk Management Consultancy, Computer Forensic Investigations and Security Training with internationally recognised security certifications all combine to ensure clients are equipped to secure their organisations in compliance with international security standards.

The cornerstone of Espion’s expertise is based on the quality of our consultants. Espion employ only Senior Consultants, who posses a wide range of security related skills and expertise, gained through a combination of experience and on-going training and development. From large scale secure network design to complex PKI roll-outs, from distributed management architectures to resilient configurations, from high level security audits to in-depth penetration testing, from ‘Wired’ to ‘Wireless’, Espion’s consultants can bring something to the table regardless of the project.

Given the ever changing nature of the information security landscape it is crucial that our consultants remain up to date and in tune with the most recent threats and dangers that exist in a modern networked environment. To that end, Espion actively participates in numerous research projects, bringing unique knowledge and expertise to our clients. Espion founded and in conjunction with Dublin City University (DCU) operate the Irish Honeynet; a research group that monitors and records the latest threats and hacker attacks in Ireland. Espion also regularly provide statistical data to the Make IT Secure campaign, a national effort to raise the level of awareness to IT Security related matters. Espion also initiated the National Hi-Tech Crime Forum, whereby the financial services sector in Ireland can share information regarding hi-tech crime in a confidential way, and share lessons learnt and discuss strategies for dealing with the same. The Irish Bankers Federation now chairs the forum.

Espion has over 35 individual training programmes available, as well as programmes that can be customised to suit specific requirements. We are the Official ISC² (CISSP) Training Partner in Ireland and the Official EC-Council Training Partner in Ireland. We also run a partner programme with the Irish Computer Society, dedicated to providing professional security training throughout Ireland.

Espion have formidable expertise in Incident Response and conducting computer-based forensic investigations. In the past 18 months alone Espion have conducted more than 180 forensic investigations in Ireland, and have presented evidence in Employment Appeals Tribunals and the Commercial Court.

We have worked with a wide range of customers in Ireland and throughout Europe. We are currently the security partners for a many of Ireland’s government departments, as well as several Irish and European retail banks. The quality of our customers is testament to our success.
